Writers

The Biz of Screenwriting 2 contest is designed to teach new and experienced writers about writing assignments and how to use them to get into the industry. Professional writers make approximately 80% of their income in Hollywood through writing assignments, and by learning how to get them, you can get IMDb credits that will establish and move your career forward.

Every contestant will get to take our Basic Writing Assignments Class and receive feedback to help you learn the process and get assignments. If you are one of our Finalists or Winners, you’ll get your work directly in front of hundreds of producers, too.

QUOTES FROM PREVIOUS FINALISTS

“The feedback from this contest was some of the best I have ever seen, in that it’s based on isolating professional screenwriting skills, and scoring them on a logical and fair rating of how well those interest techniques and traits were used. It’s not just a vague opinion.” - Steven Hammon

“Getting a taste of what life is like as a professional screenwriter — with its deadline pressures and the required creative flexibility — was worth the price of admission alone. As a new writer, it’s only natural to think of the screenwriting business in terms of selling my own original stories. But this contest offered critical exposure to the other side of the business: writing for hire. With this experience, I feel much more prepared for a professional screenwriting career than I was before entering.” - Mike Davidson
